Every technology solution has pros and cons. Ask anyone in the IT channel what the biggest concern with cloud computing is, and a majority of them will discuss the security concerns. However, despite this perceived major con, the cloud marketplace continues to grow.

A recent Wired article examined Amazon’s cloud industry and found that in the last two years it has expanded 62 percent. What more, the reports of NSA spying had no impact on this level of growth.

Popular IT industry blog The VAR Guy examined this outcome more closely. While some point to this meaning the industry is not concerned about the threat from the NSA, the blog argues that it could just point to the fact that the cloud itself has a built-in security problem.

“This is to say that data in the cloud is inherently unsafe, and any organization that runs anything in the cloud should be acutely aware of this fact,” the article reads. “But many enterprises either are not aware or don’t care, if the steady growth of the cloud market is any indication.”

So why is the cloud popular if it is unsafe? The blog post mentions two reasons. The first is that decision-makers may not be fully aware of the seriousness of the problem. The other, and more likely, is that the benefits of the cloud simply outweigh the security concerns.

Many companies have turned toward VARs and MSPs that specializes in cloud based technologies as a way to more effectively manage the system. By partnering with VAR Staffing, quality solution providers can identify and recruit the impactful talent that is needed to improve how companies approach the cloud.
