Demand for technology skills continues to grow and a new report highlights the influence the IT channel is having on the corporate world.

Recently, LinkedIn released its list of the most in-demand jobs skills of 2013. The list was compiled by analyzing the skills and employment history of more than 259 million users. This included examining jobs added by individuals with select skills, what recruiters are searching for and what jobs are being posted.

Unsurprisingly, technology skills dominated the list. The top 10 looks like this:

  • Social media marketing
  • Mobile development
  • Cloud and distributed computing
  • Perl/python/ruby coding
  • Statistical analysis and data mining
  • User interface design
  • Digital and online marketing
  • Recruiting
  • Business development/relationship manage
  • Retail payment and information systems

There were other major technology trends that made the top 25 list. These include business intelligence, database management and information security.

A ReadWrite article examined the report and noted that even those areas on the list that are not direct IT jobs will be influenced heavily by the latest innovations. On top of that, working for a technology solution provider means an abundance of opportunities.

“If you’re thinking about a career in technology, you’ll be in good company,” the article reads. “Tech jobs make up almost half of the best companies to work for, as many of tech’s most popular companies are truly changing human behavior, have enviable office cultures, and maintain high employee satisfaction. Not a bad gig.”

This trend is going to continue into the new year. VARs and MSPs are going to experience increased demand and VAR Staffing provides these solution providers with the impactful talent needed to be successful.
