With the holiday season upon us, many employees are looking forward to yearly bonuses and finishing the year strong, so they can to be in the best position for a raise in the new year. Some sectors, however, are far more lucrative and the IT channel is at the top of the list.

A recent article from the Florida newspaper the Sun Sentinel recapped a recent survey of more than 500 IT professionals and local companies. The responses suggest that salaries will improve in 2014 and could achieve double-digit gains.

The numbers suggest that starting salaries in 2014 for properly skilled IT workers will increase by 10 to 18 percent. With 61 percent of businesses planning to expand the size of their technology departments in 2014 — up from 57 percent in 2013 — this means more IT professionals will be finding opportunities.

“We are seeing a significant number of candidates that possess the right skill sets to receive numerous job offers at a time,” Bob Dickey, group president of technology and engineering for Randstad, told the news source.

The positions that will garner the biggest pay increases include mobile application development, cloud infrastructure engineers and IT security analysts. The demand for these skills will continue to grow in the coming years.

The need for quality IT professionals is clearly on the rise and employers will be paying top dollar to identify and recruit top talent. Many businesses are turning toward VARs and MSPs to handle today’s technology challenges. By partnering with VAR Staffing, solution providers are able to find impactful talent that is in high demand.
