Anyone who follows the IT channel is well aware of the fact that traditional IT has changed. How these departments were run in the past is no longer a viable option when trying to manage the latest innovations and technology. With how quickly IT trends are emerging, any organization that isn’t proactive about remaining on the cutting edge will fall behind quickly.

A recent post on the blog CIO Insight examined this trend and found that the key to business success could be revamping traditional IT staffing practices.

“Suffice it to say that it’s not your father’s IT department,” the article reads. “Navigating this environment requires different thinking, but also an entirely different approach to IT staffing. The need for technical bits and bytes expertise hasn’t gone away, but there are new staffing requirements that cannot be ignored.”

The issue stems from a lack of understanding when it comes to solutions like social media, mobility, big data and cloud integration. Many companies understand that they are important, but without a full understanding, many of these systems fall short and only scratch the surface of what these new technologies are truly capable of.

This can lead to the creation of new IT positions, CIOs re-examining and reinventing how they manage their departments, and hiring bright professionals who may not come from a tech background. The latest IT employees need to have a wider knowledge base that includes more than just knowing how a computer works.

This “latest breed” of IT professional are often found within the solution provider community. With its unique focus on staffing of the VAR and MSP vertical, VAR Staffing helps solution providers find the impactful talent that they desire.
