In the late 1990s through the very early 2000s. the business world was engrossed in what was known as the "dot-com boom." It correlated with the growth of the internet when monetizing it was still very much the Wild West and just about anything was allowed. It also marked some the highest IT hiring numbers and stock figures that have ever been seen. At least until now.

The most recent report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics found that the unemployment rate for technology professionals fell to 3.8 percent in July. By comparison, overall unemployment was at 7.4 percent.

The month also saw 3,600 jobs created in the fields of data processing, hosting and related services. Employment service Dice is calling July "the single best month of job growth in this category since June 1998." Dice is crediting this growth to the influence of the cloud.

"Cloud service providers report in this category and their services appear to be increasingly in demand," a statement from Dice said. "The number of jobs posted on Dice containing the word 'cloud' hit an all-time high in August and account for 6 percent of all job postings."

This new boom is helping to push IT staffing to a level that has not been seen in over a decade. This is causing the demand for skilled professionals in these areas to skyrocket and every company is looking for the most impactful talent. By using VAR Staffing, any solution provider can find the individuals needed to be successful in this new landscape.
