Small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) are often quicker to rely on the latest technology innovations to help them succeed. This is because SMBs must run as effectively as possible while dealing with small budgets. Options like the cloud or mobile devices have become a smarter choice. IT Principals for these companies find themselves trying to manage the latest tech advancements soon after they hit the market.

Recently, Dell and Intel released the results of a new study of nearly 1,000 small businesses and found that technology plays a major role in their growth. Seventy-seven percent of respondents said that technology is key to their success. On top of that, 69 percent of startups and SMBs said that some form of tech supports daily operations within their business.

"Small business owners are now more dependent than ever on technology for growth since their customers and employees are so geographically dispersed," Barry Moltz, a small business consultant, author and speaker, said in the report. "This technology challenge is becoming increasingly difficult with customers and employees expecting to be able to access information from anywhere, and on any device."

However, despite the need for the latest innovations, acquiring the impactful talent to manage the systems is often not considered as important. Only 33 percent of respondents said a dedicated IT staff was important to success, while 15 percent of those surveyed have actually invested in IT professionals.

It could be that more businesses are turning toward VARs and MSPs to handle managing the latest innovation in the IT channel. Solution providers need to partner with VAR Staffing to make sure they have the quality tech professionals businesses desire.
