Innovation required for IT Principals to get top talent

The IT job market has changed and IT Principals who don't keep up will find their businesses falling behind industry leaders. IT departments have required functions and concerns that didn't exist years ago and Solution Providers are becoming a more valued resource to answer emerging IT challenges.
According to a new survey from job search website CareerBuilder, 55 percent of IT employers are planning to hiring for permanent placement from July 1 through December 31. This is a 1 percent decline from this time last year, the site says, and when compared to other markets, it is stable and healthy.
"Despite a small slowdown in hiring year-over-year, the IT sector remains strong, with an ever-growing need for strong talent in this area," Ben Jablow, a VP for CareerBuilder, said in a press release. "With IT employers planning to hire in numbers more than 10 percentage points above the national average, the second half of 2012 promises a pattern of steady growth for the industry."
Web technology is increasingly going more mobile as users access the internet via smartphones and tablets, so it’s important to continue to learn about new techniques to reach this group of users. This is causing more IT Principals to create new job functions. According to the survey, mobile storage, data management, social media and cyber security were all cited as IT responsibilities that didn't even exist as little as five years ago.
