Denver IT Management Team Steps Out to Cure Scleroderma
Approximately 300,000 people in the United States suffer from scleroderma. One of them is a member of Illumen’s skilled IT services team who has suffered from the disease since childhood. So, Team Isaac will step out in mid-June participate in a walk to raise money to help doctors find a cure for and the cause of scleroderma.
Denver, CO May 16, 2012 – Once again, the team at Illumen will participate in the Scleroderma Foundation’s 8th Annual Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma 3K and 5K walks. One of this year’s Rocky Mountain Chapter events will take place on June 16, 2012, at Cherry Creek State Park in Aurora, CO. Registration starts at 8 a.m. The other event will take place in Fort Collins, CO on Sep. 30, 2012.
Illumen chief operating officer Misha Danaceau and his team have participated in the Scleroderma Foundation’s event for the past four years to support Isaac Krajmalnik, a scleroderma sufferer and part owner of Illumen. So far, they have raised more than $5,500 toward their goal of $10,000.
“Everyone here knows Isaac and is friends with him, so when we get out and do this, we’re all doing it to support one of our own,” said Danaceau. “That the money we raise goes toward helping others with this disease, too, is just one of the many added benefits we derive from being a part of this event every year.”
Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease of the connective tissue that causes skin thickening, spontaneous scarring, diseased blood vessels and inflammation as the result of an overactive immune system. There is no known cure for this chronic disease, and doctors have yet to determine its cause.
