It’s no surprise that there is a challenge in the IT channel when it comes to technology talent. Demand is high as more innovations hit the market and provide enterprises with improved ways of doing business. However, finding individuals with the right skills is difficult and many organizations are instead partnering with solution providers for short-term help instead of trying to hire individual employees.

A recent article from ComputerWorld featured an interview with David Foote, the founder of labor research group Foote Partners. He spoke about a job pattern that dominated 2013, outsourcing IT operations.

According to Foote’s research, hiring by IT services and consulting firms outpaced all other IT hiring over the last 12 months. This means organizations were more likely to partner with contingent workers, VARs or MSPs than add a permanent employee to the payroll.

Overall, IT jobs increased 128,500 in 2013. However, 111,000 of those opportunities were in the IT services segments. This means you are more likely to find a quality technology opening with a solution provider than with the company that is seeking their services.

“Nobody is really putting an emphasis on hiring full-time people,” Foote said.

This increase in demand for quality solution providers is putting increased pressure on VARs and MSPs to be able to deliver and offer the support that businesses demand. By partnering with VAR Staffing, these IT service companies are able to identify and recruit impactful talent that is needed to successfully handle the latest technology innovations on the marketplace.
