There are several factors that contribute to the health of the hiring market. While industry and experience will certainly play a part, one large component of job growth is location. Regardless of which sector of business you are examining, certain areas are more likely to be looking for IT or healthcare talent.
Recently, online jobs and careers community Glassdoor released its list of the top 10 cities in the U.S. for hiring. The ranking is determined by the number of companies in each area that have at least one open job on the site. Other factors, including "business outlook" and employee satisfaction rank, were also considered when job opportunities in different cities were comparable.
Not surprisingly, the list is composed of major metropolitan areas. In the top spot is New York City, which currently has 11,024 job openings. That is followed by Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Dallas-Fort Worth, Boston, Atlanta, Houston and Philadelphia.
The study also found that IT and healthcare opportunities are among the most available positions in the country. Positions like software engineer are expected to see faster growth than others through 2020, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
"The war for talent is fierce in healthcare and technology," Scott Dobroksi, Glassdoor's data and community expert, told Entrepreneur.
The IT channel is pushing job creation across the country. As competition grows, more businesses will find themselves turning toward VARs and MSPs to answer growing challenges. Solution providers that have partnered with VAR Staffing can find the impactful talent that companies desire.
