Cloud storage and backup popular for email archiving

Email archiving allows enterprises to save emails that are sent and received by the organization. Although email still feels relatively new, it's been around for a long time and is now being used in legal cases, known as eDiscovery. As social media messages as well as emails get used in litigation, it's more important than ever that enterprise IT leaders seek out email archiving solutions that can keep organizations secure.
Backup and storage use grows
According to Formtek, cloud backup and storage are becoming increasingly popular as leaders begin to recognize benefits. Businesses know they need effective storage for email and other documents, storage that can be searched if something needs to be found. One of the cons of in-house storage is that it is often difficult for IT leaders to find missing documents. Cloud search capabilities allow these same leaders to search email archives in the cloud with ease, saving time and resources.
Choosing a vendor
It's not easy to choose a vendor for services, as many offer email archiving, cloud backup and cloud storage, but some are ahead of the pack, meeting Gartner's standards for effective services. Sonian has recently been positioned in the Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Information Archiving, signaling that the company has been able to meet the high standards for archiving services. Gartner, a research firm, awards companies this honor for meeting high standards for their offerings.
"We believe Gartner's thorough evaluation and subsequent placement of Sonian in the Challengers Quadrant is a tremendous affirmation of our vision, ability to execute, and best-in-class and expanding product portfolio," said Jeff Dickerson, CEO of Sonian, in a statement. "As data volumes continue to grow exponentially, the ability to capitalize on big data has taken center stage."
Enterprises to consider solutions
As more data enters enterprises and email archiving becomes more and more of a necessity, enterprises should consider solutions that can facilitate storage within the cloud. Email archiving allows for the automatic storage of messages and the ability to find them as soon as they are needed. Cloud computing has become more advanced and increasingly secure, leading IT departments to implement solutions that offer improvements to current storage offerings.
