Enterprises are always looking for a way to get ahead of the competition – it's a rule of business. The technology realm has become a battle arena for companies, all looking to take advantage of the latest innovation faster and more efficiently than their rivals. IT Principals need to rely on progressive resources to ensure they can stay competitive.

"Managed services is no different than the broader IT industry," wrote Joe Panettieri, of the blog MSPmentor. "Over time everything becomes a commodity. So if you're 'banking' on managed services you built in 2007 to drive your business in 2012, you're hosed."

Panettieri goes on to say that the more valuable MSPs will move in at least one of three directions. The obvious one, according to the piece, is going vertical. As technology advances, more industries are starting to rely on IT innovations and for businesses where this might be a new investment, a reliable VAR can be a lifesaver.

The less obvious direction is toward big data. Panettieri believes that a majority of IT service providers in the IT channel have overlooked the opportunity that big data can provide. It also states IT Principals need to keep an eye on the future. The next big innovation could be the one that puts them over the top and ensuring the impactful talent is in place to integrate that technology can keep businesses aggressive.

The final direction is being able to blend all the aspects of IT including MSPs, outsourcing strategies, ISVs and VARs. Have a reliable resource can allow IT Principals to better traverse the murky waters of business technology. VAR Staffing can provide MSPs and Integrators with the premium talent that will allow them to stand above the crowd.
